Coach Rainville started his coaching career by assisting his father's last team at Danville High School in 2014. The team won the 6th state championship in program history and the first in 25 years. In the fall of 2015, he became the varsity assistant under Coach Joyal at Lyndon Institute. His first season on staff at LI ended with the school's second state championship in school history. In 2017, the LI basketball team won the most regular season games in school history. The LI program was a combined 36-10 in Patrick's two seasons on staff.
Coach Rainville has organized numerous youth basketball clinics to benefit community causes, worked college basketball camps, attended NBA and College Coaching Clinics, coached AAU teams, and offered his time to any student-athlete who wanted to get better. He is a USA Basketball Youth Development gold licensed coach, has a certificate from the positive coaching alliance, and has completed courses in basketball analytics and digital video editing.
Recently, Coach Rainville completed an internship in basketball operations with the NBA's Charlotte Hornets. Upon being named the varsity coach at LI, Coach Rainville said “I am excited to lead the Lyndon Institute boys basketball program. I look forward to working with and supporting our student-athletes. The program and Lyndon Institute have a deep-rooted tradition of excellence, and I would like to thank athletic director Paul Wheeler and LI for this opportunity.”
