Coach Carr Stepping Down as Head Softball Coach

July 20th, 2022

Lyndon Institute athletics has announced that Head Softball Coach, Chris Carr, will be stepping down after the recent championship season.

Carr put together one of the most successful runs in program history posting a 107 and 18 record over 7 years. The Vikings had most recently won back-to-back Division II state titles under Carr’s direction.

“Chris and his staff have worked tirelessly to help our players achieve greatness while also representing Lyndon Institute with professionalism and class,” said Eric Berry, LI’s Director of Athletics.

Coach Carr thanked his loyal supporters. “First I want to thank my biggest supporter and fan, my wife Sonya Carr, for being there through thick and thin over the last 7 years and dealing with everything I threw at her. I’d also like to thank my assistant coaches, Randy Boulay, Kevin Ruggles, Kelly Hudson, and Paige Carr for supporting me, telling me how it is some days, and keeping me grounded. Without them we wouldn’t have been as successful as we were,” he added. “I would also like to thank the community for coming out and supporting these athletes over the years, and I will cherish it forever. You will see me at games cheering on the next coach and athletes. Thank you everyone for everything, it was a great ride!”

After posting a 10 and 8 record in year one, Lyndon went 97 and 10 over the past six years while also collecting 3 state championships with Carr at the helm. Coach Carr also led the Vermont North team to three series wins while posting an 8 and 1 record in the annual Vermont North/South game played between graduating seniors.

Lyndon will begin its search for a replacement immediately as the program looks to defend its back-to-back titles.
