LI Announces Athletic Hall of Fame Members and Teams
February 21st, 2024
Lyndon Institute (LI) has announced that eight outstanding individual athletes, one prolific team, and one exceptional coach will be inducted into the 2024 LI Athletic Hall of Fame. “Every year we get reenergized by yet another outstanding class of athletes, teams, and coaches to our athletic programs,” said LI’s Director of Athletics, Eric Berry. “Our Hall of Fame committee appreciates all of the nominations we received as well as the information provided about this tremendous group. It is not only fun to honor their accomplishments, but to also recognize the rich tradition of great athletes, coaches, and teams we have had here at LI. This group is very special in their own way and also remarkable - much like the three classes of inductees before them!”
Members of the newest Hall of Fame class:
- Brian Beattie - ‘62 (Skiing)
- Jack Brown - ‘15 (Track and Field)
- Mike Guyer - ‘70 (Football, Track and Field, Skiing)
- Buddy Lamothe - ‘09 (Baseball, Football, Hockey)
- Harry Sylce - ‘36 (Track and Field)
- Tracy Turner - ‘90 (Track and Field, Basketball)
- Treny Turner - ‘93 (Track and Field, Basketball)
Teams:
- Boys Combined Ski Team - 1944-1947
Coach:
- David Dwyer (Track and Field, Cross Country, Nordic)
The individual inductees and teams will be honored on October 4, 2024, with a ceremony to be held on the LI campus and also on October 5 at halftime of the North Country @ Lyndon Institute football game, to be played at home on Lewis Field at 1 pm. Tickets for the banquet will be made available online at www.lyndoninstitute.org/athletics/athletic-hall-of-fame.
The LI Athletic department urges both friends and alumni to nominate athletes, coaches, teams, or others who they feel have made a great contribution to LI athletics over the past 157-year history of the school.
