Biography

William Laramee Ed.D is  Emeritus Vice President for Alumni and College Relations at Berea College, KY. During his tenure at Berea College, Ky, Bill oversaw one of the most unique and successful advancement programs in higher education.  Prior to his time at Berea, he served as Dean of Students and then Dean of Institutional Advancement at Lyndon State College, Vermont.  Bill has taught in the areas of Philanthropy, Business, Education, and General Studies.  During his career, he also published a number of professional articles in the area of philanthropy, student affairs, and leadership, work-learning education, and spiritual and moral development.  Bill presently serves as a trustee for Warren Wilson College, NC; on the board of Sustainable Harvest International, Ellsworth, ME; and a Corporator at Lyndon Institute. 

In addition to his professional roles, and living in Lyndonville, Bill served as chair of a Lyndonville public school board; was a member of the state of Vermont Environmental Board; Town Moderato; and president of the Chamber of Commerce.  In recognition of his service to public education, Bill received the State of Vermont Award for Private Citizen Contribution to Public Education.  At Berea, he received the Carter G. Woodson Distinguished Service Award for promoting interracial awareness.  

Bill holds an undergraduate degree in business administration from Western New England University; M.ED and Ed.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; and a Master in Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College, NH.  

He and his wife, Monica, have four grown children, all of whom graduated from LI, and seven grandchildren. They presently divide their year between residing in Berea, Kentucky and Lyndonville, Vermont, while enjoying outdoor activities, gardening and travel.
