Paraeducator/Paraprofessional/Instructional Assistant

Description

Lyndon Institute is looking to hire a full time paraprofessional to join our Special Education and Learning Services team.

In this position the employee will work with high school students in both classroom and small group settings. Applicants should have experience working with individuals that have a variety of needs, the ability to be flexible, to help implement academic plans, and above all, build a trusting and positive relationship with the students. The right candidate will promote a consistent, caring, and educational learning environment that supports the student(s). The paraeducator will provide instructional services under the direct supervision and consultation of the special educator and classroom teachers.

Requirements

Paraeducators must have at least a high school diploma/GED to qualify. Associates degree is desired or a highly qualified paraeducator assessment upon hire will be needed.

Lyndon Institute is one of the few high schools in Vermont that offers a complete range of Fine and Performing Arts courses. These include full course loads in each discipline: fine and graphic arts, theater, instrumental and vocal music, and dance. Students can choose from a range of classes in each of the disciplines ranging from introduction to art, photography, AP level art classes, and painting; acting, introduction and techniques in dance, jazz and lyrical ballet, dance history and improvisation/composition to dance company, plus concert and jazz band to chorus and select chorus.
