2025 Benefit Dance Recital

The Benefit Dance Recital is an annual spring event held at Lyndon Institute.  All proceeds are given to organizations around the NEK that offer activities involving physical exercise or movement, are striving to help people in our community attain a healthy lifestyle, or are working to provide more opportunities for kids/teens to experience the arts or support for lifelong wellness.

This year’s recital proceeds will be given to the Children’s Programming at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum.  They work hard to create opportunities to develop artistic, reading and movement literacy for lifelong learning in children.

“Movement is an integral part of the children’s programming at the St Johnsbury Athenaeum.  We host an array of regular programs, like storytimes, Music Man performances and yoga.  Each offers an element of movement from fingerplays and dance to stretches and creative play.  Our littlest patrons benefit from these movement techniques by improving focus, developing fine motor skills and fostering social interaction.  Our storytimes encourage the children to act out elements of the stories, such as moving like the wind or walking like different animals, to improve reading comprehension and sequencing skills.  All of these are vital life skills needed for literacy and social emotional development.  We also reinforce movement with our seasonal programs from outdoor playtimes, which include balance and exploration toys to our dance parties with fun unstructured dance moves.  Movement in children’s programs is the perfect way to “kiss the brain” and develop lifelong learners.” - Becky Hatfield, Youth Services Librarian at St. Johnsbury Athenaeum

The Benefit Recital is organized by LI Dance Teacher and founder/coordinator of the annual VT State Dance Festival, Rebecca McGregor.  The dancers performing in the Benefit Show this spring are enrolled in dance programs at Lyndon Institute, Lamoille Union High School, Dance Express, and St. Johnsbury Ballet Studio to name a few!

This year’s Benefit Recital will be held at the LI Alumni Auditorium on Friday, March 28th, at 7pm.  Admission is by donation!
